Maremma
Guardian dogs (LGD'S)
Unlike
any dog I had ever known. When we first left the city to enjoy
country living I was afraid of the possibility that a cougar would be
up every tree and round every corner. A very unfounded fear but
never the less I wanted a protector. I searched the internet and
found this breed and Emma who was a pup in Northern Carolina. She
arrived the same day as the llamas. She bonded to them and goes
where they go. Then we got her a companion Steed. I had
never had a male dog before. He is without question the best dog
I have ever owned. So gentle and smart. He checks out the
area before the animals and they wait for the ok from him. He is
about 125 lbs now and 2 and 1/2 years old. I think I need to
rename him spider man. I tried to keep him away from Emma but now
for the third time she is having puppies. I really don't know
what to do. I had not anticipated his determination. They
don't like to leave the livestock and will not go out in the car.
Well next time she will be in a concrete kennel with a roof!
So
if interested in a puppy please contact me. I see a big benefit
to me keeping the pups till they are 10 or so weeks old. I have
seen Emma teach the pups what to do and what not to do. And I
want to teach them the word "no" and not to jump up. Emma is a
wonderful mother.
